About the Role

We are constantly seeking new ways to transform ourselves and our role in disinfection and are currently on the lookout for an R&D and Microlab Technician that shares our passion for safety, biosecurity, infection control, sustainability, and education.

As a member of our Research and Development team, the R&D and Microlab will support our R&D efforts by performing experiments, analyzing data, and maintaining lab equipment. They will also support our microbial testing labs by making new stock, preparing test culture, analyzing data and reporting them in a timely manner, upkeep of the lab, equipment and work area, and ensuring materials are properly used and discarded according to standard protocols, regulations and company’s policies. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, problem solving abilities and extraordinary attention to detail.

 

A day in the life of the R&D and Microlab Technician might include…

  • Preparation of formulation samples for internal testing, external lab tests or sample requests.
  • Assist in designing, setting up, and executing experiments and tests in accordance with research protocols and project requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory notebooks and documentation. Prepare technical summaries and report of experimental results as required.
  • Running routine tests on the HPLC and troubleshooting the equipment.
  • Conduct analytical chemistry tests such as various titrations, pH measurements, and density measurements etc.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment. Troubleshoot and repair equipment as required to ensure smooth lab operations.
  • Collaborating with other departments when required Lead compatibility and cleaning studies as required.
  • Preparation and standardization of consumable reagents.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized lab environment. Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
  • Conduct and track microbial efficacy tests against various bacteria, spore, fungi, mycobacteria, and virus based on standardized test methods.
  • Make new stock culture of any microorganism used for in-house testing as needed.
  • Prepare, sterilize materials, and sanitize, validate (if required) the equipment used in the conduct of microbial testing.
  • Prepare media, test sample, reagents used in different testing.
  • Perform monthly bioburden test of DI water sample received from QC.
  • Coordinate and handle disposal of biohazard waste.
  • Actively participate in all required investigations and troubleshooting initiatives.
  • Work closely with other team members to support ongoing projects.
  • Manage inventory of lab supplies, chemicals, materials, and stock culture of microorganisms. Contact suppliers, place orders when required and ensure all materials are properly stored.
  • Other projects and duties, as assigned.

Does this sound like you?

  • A college diploma or degree in a relevant field. Chemistry, biology, microbiology, biochemistry or biotechnology preferred. Alternatively, a sufficient amount of related experience is acceptable.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional work experience in a lab environment.
  • Working with HPLC (sample prep, sample runs) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques and equipment usage. Strong understanding of experimental procedures and data analysis methods.
  • Ability to adhere to safety procedures and work safely with chemicals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prepare clear and concise reports as required High level of accuracy and attention to detail in conducting experiments.
  • Ability to demonstrate good time management and multitasking skills.
  • Familiar with Good Laboratory Practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently. Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

What’s in it for you?

  • The expected compensation for this position ranges between $40,000.00 and $55,000.00 per year.
  • This position is required to work onsite.
  • Paid time off between December 25th and January 1st each year, for all permanent full-time staff.
