About the Role
We are constantly seeking new ways to transform ourselves and our role in disinfection and are currently on the lookout for a Lab Technician that shares our passion for safety, biosecurity, infection control, sustainability, and education.
As a member of our Research and Development team, the R&D Lab Technician is responsible for lab sample preparations, conducting analytical tests, and participating in scientific studies.
A day in the life of a Lab Technician might include…
- Preparing formulation samples for internal testing, external lab tests and/or sample requests.
- Assisting in designing, setting up, and executing experiments and tests in accordance with research protocols and project requirements.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed laboratory notebooks and documentation.
- Preparing technical summaries and report on experimental results, as required.
- Running routine tests on the HPLC and troubleshooting equipment issues when they occur.
- Conducting analytical chemistry tests, such as: titrations, pH measurements, and density measurements etc.
- Assisting the Lab Manager in daily lab activities and special projects.
- Operating, calibrating, and maintaining laboratory equipment. Troubleshoot and repair equipment as required to ensure smooth lab operations.
- Collaborating with other departments when required.
- Leading compatibility and cleaning studies as required.
- Preparing and standardizing consumable reagents.
- Adhering to safety protocols and maintaining a clean and organized lab environment. Ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
- Monitoring and managing inventory of lab supplies and chemicals; placing orders and ensuring materials are properly stored when required.
- Working closely with other team members to support ongoing projects.
- Other projects and duties, as assigned.
Does this sound like you?
- College Diploma or bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biotechnology, or other related field.
- 3 years of professional experience working in a laboratory.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs such as: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Experience with HPLC and GLP.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques and equipment usage.
- Strong understanding of experimental procedures and data analysis measures.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Ability to adhere to safety procedures and work safely with chemicals.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written form.
- Ability to demonstrate a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to demonstrate good time management skills.
- Ability to record and analyze data.
- Ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Ability to work independently, and as part of a team.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, and demonstrate flexibility as needed.
What’s in it for you?
- The expected compensation for this position ranges between $40,000.00 and $50,000.00 per year.
- This position is required to work onsite.
- Paid time off between December 25th and January 1st each year, for all permanent full-time staff.
- 4-day Summer schedule from Mid-May to Labour Day each year.
