About the Role
We are constantly seeking new ways to transform ourselves and our role in disinfection and are currently on the lookout for a Strategic Sourcing Specialist that shares our passion for safety, biosecurity, infection control, sustainability, and education.
As a member of our Materials Management team, the Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for developing and sustaining professional relationships with all key vendors and new potential vendors to continue to procure great quality raw materials and components while positioning to procure from high potential vendors in the future.
A day in the life of a Strategic Sourcing Specialist might include…
- Deliver cost savings across all component and raw material portfolios while building risk mitigation
sourcing strategies. - Develop a formal risk analysis report for each purchased component (or group of shared components) to report on observed areas of risk and cost control. Make recommendations for projects and changes to address perceived risk.
- Review and analyze existing and upcoming Supply Agreements on their impact on Virox. Make
recommendations for projects and changes to address perceived risk. - Review and analyze existing market insight data available for supporting supply continuity and cost
control. Make recommendations for changes (if required) with appropriate ROI and the time to tackle each initiative. - Establish relationships we all key vendors and establishing touch base points with key account
representatives on a monthly- bimonthly basis. - Update and expansion of SKU Supply Profile (SmartSheet) for all components, sub-components raw
materials and other impactful sources that are utilized in Virox products. - Support Department Projects to meet strategic objectives.
- Submit monthly reports reviewing department metrics, making suggestions and forecasts, as necessary.
- Monthly review meeting with Virox Buyers (spread over weekly meetings for each portfolio) reviewing the procurement plan for any potential risks or future forecasted demand impact that should be factored into the plan.
- Monthly review of total spends (cost of material & landed cost) & production downtime events, identifying opportunities and projects to optimize supply and to landed cost for Virox purchased components to achieve cost savings, efficiency, and supply continuity.
- Weekly monitoring of Cost Variances (Budget and vs. Cost Change Tracker). Action on negotiations or changes required in a timely manner to mitigate where possible any negative impacts to Virox.
- Daily maintenance of Cost Change Tracker (SmartSheet) with cost changes that are proposed by
vendors. - Daily management of Secondary Sourcing Tracker (SmartSheet) to coordinate with QA / R&D the
implementation of alternate sources for cost savings or risk mitigation. - Work with QA and R&D to source samples and alternate options of components required for future
products or product improvements. - Participate in scheduled vendor calls/meetings alongside internal team members, as required, and
requested. - Audit product, computer data and paperwork to ensure quality standards are being met.
- Other projects and duties, as assigned.
Does this sound like you?
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field an asset.
- Strong Understanding of Procurement strategies and principles.
- 2 Years experience in strategic sourcing role with proven record of material savings on total bill of
materials. - Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains and Smartsheet is an asset.
- Understanding of MRP.
- Strong knowledge of ISO9000:2000, cGMP, and Health Canada Regulations.
- Knowledge of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods.
- Strong understanding of export and customs requirements.
- Extensive PC knowledge– Advanced excel, data manipulation skills.
- Strong business communication skills.
- Strategic and analytical problem-solving skills.
What’s in it for you?
- The expected compensation for this position ranges between $44,000.00 and $70,000.00 per year.
- This position is required to work onsite.
- Paid time off between December 25th and January 1st each year, for all permanent full-time staff.
