About the Role
We are constantly seeking new ways to transform ourselves and our role in disinfection and are currently on the lookout for an R&D and Microlab Technician that shares our passion for safety, biosecurity, infection control, sustainability, and education.
As a member of our Research and Development team, the R&D and Microbiology Lab Technician supports our R&D efforts by performing experiments, analyzing data, maintaining lab equipment and upkeep of the lab. They also support our microbial testing labs by making new stock, preparing test culture, analyzing data and reporting on all findings.
A day in the life of the R&D and Microlab Technician might include…
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and quality standards, as well as adhering to safety/biosafety
protocols, maintaining a clean and organized lab environment, and following aseptic techniques - Conducting and tracking microbial efficacy tests against various bacteria, spore, fungi, mycobacteria, and viruses based on standardized test methods.
- Running routine tests on the HPLC and troubleshooting the equipment.
- Making new stock cultures of any microorganism used for in-house testing.
- Preparing, sterilizing materials, sanitizing and validating (if required) the equipment used in the conduct of microbial testing.
- Preparing media, test sample and reagents used in different testing.
- Conducting various analytical chemistry tests, such as: titrations, pH measurements, density measurements etc.
- Performing monthly bioburden tests of DI water sample received from QC.
- Coordinating and handling disposal of biohazard waste.
- Preparing formulation samples for internal testing, external lab tests or sample requests.
- Assisting in designing, setting up, and executing experiments and tests in accordance with research protocols and project requirements.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed laboratory notebooks and documentation.
- Preparing technical summaries and reports of experimental results
- Other projects and duties, as assigned.
Does this sound like you?
- A college diploma or degree in: Chemistry, biology, microbiology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or another relevant field is preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional work experience in a lab environment.
- HPLC experience (i.e.: ability to complete sample prep, sample runs) is preferred.
- Familiar with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, such as: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques and equipment usage. Strong understanding of experimental procedures and data analysis methods.
- Ability to adhere to safety procedures and work safely with chemicals.
- Ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written form.
- Ability to prepare clear and concise reports, as required.
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail in conducting experiments.
- Ability to demonstrate good time management and multitasking skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
What’s in it for you?
- The expected compensation for this position ranges between $40,000.00 and $55,000.00 per year.
- This position is required to work onsite.
- Paid time off between December 25th and January 1st each year, for all permanent full-time staff.
