Disinfectant Report Card: QUATS

Virox Technologies Inc. The antimicrobial capabilities of QUATs were first observed in the 19th century and have been used in disinfectant formulations ever since. QUATs are widely regarded as stable and highly dilutable making them viable, cost-effective solutions. However, QUATs generally have longer contact times, are only readily effective against easier to kill pathogens and accumulate in the environment which can lead to antimicrobial resistance.
