At Virox, sustainability is built into everything we do, from our technologies, products and packaging to our operations and community support. We are proud to announce the successful LEED® Gold recertification of our headquarters, reinforcing our long-standing commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable operations.
What Does LEED® Gold Recertification Mean?
LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is one of the world’s most recognized green building certification programs. To maintain certification, facilities must undergo a comprehensive recertification process every three years, demonstrating continued performance and compliance to CaGBC’s (Canada Green Building Council) global environmental standards.
Achieving and maintaining LEED certification demonstrates that Virox is not only compliant with the highest environmental standards but is also taking proactive steps to protect the planet, conserve resources, and promote a healthier workplace for all employees.
From energy consumption and water usage to indoor air quality and waste diversion. The evaluation considers several key areas, including:
- Energy Efficiency
- Water Usage
- Waste Diversion
- Indoor Environmental Quality
- Transportation & Occupant Comfort
This process helps ensure organizations continue evolving alongside environmental best practices and sustainability standards.
Virox first earned LEED Silver certification in 2013 and, in 2020, became the first chemical manufacturing company in Canada to achieve LEED Gold certification for operating a healthy, efficient, and environmentally responsible facility. Since then, we have continued to maintain this standard through ongoing improvements across our operations and manufacturing processes.
From developing sustainable disinfectant technologies and eco-friendly packaging solutions to improving operational efficiency, reducing waste and supporting community initiatives, we continuously work to minimize our environmental footprint and help build a safer, greener world.
As environmental expectations and sustainability standards continue to evolve, so will we. Our LEED Gold recertification reflects not only where we are today, but also our ongoing commitment to continuous improvement, operational excellence, and creating a more sustainable future for generations to come.
